Scooby is another eventer, who has completed both Pre-Novice and Novice events barefoot and got his first barefoot horse trials points in May 2005.
Scooby’s owner took him barefoot in September 2004, another barefoot “experiment!
He was immediately happier barefoot on grass/school surfaces, with better movement and increased hock flexion.
He was fine on smooth tarmac, but wore boots on rough ground at first. Within 3-4 months he was 100% capable on rocky ground, too, and jumping better than ever.
During the 2005 season he has evented over all types of going.
Without exception he was as, or more, surefooted barefoot than he had been when shod....
...and as you can see, he jumps BIG!
